📍The brand spanking new Design Declares website launched this June, well equipped with language translations and the introduction of an “emergency red” hue.
🇮🇳 We launched our case study with Journey of Objects and explored “subtle commerce” in our latest think piece.
We are officially a Top Creative Company!
Driftime® have been named a Top Creative Company by It’s Nice That and If You Could, with an honorary win for our company culture.
If You Could reveals the winners of its inaugural Top Creative Companies award, designed to celebrate organisations that are providing inspiring, supportive and brilliant workplaces, by highlighting 25 companies that have cleared the benchmark as a top creative workplace.
Within the overall list, two honorary winners were selected in three key categories: culture, craft and leadership. Driftime® and We Are Tilt were both named as honorary winners of “culture”, a category that considers the work environment, and how collaboration cultivates a team’s creativity.

Transform’s 5 Minutes with Abb-d Taiyo
Abb-d Taiyo, CCO of Driftime®, chats to Transform about Art Not Evidence, discussing how Driftime® developed a creative strategy to reach and resonate with complex audiences.
Driftime® started work with Art Not Evidence in the summer of 2023, reckoning with the challenge of articulating the Art Not Evidence message through a clear visual language and an accessible, engaging platform. Transform caught up with Driftime® co-founder Abb-d Taiyo to chat about all things design and creative strategy.
For those not already in the know, Art Not Evidence is a UK not-for-profit advocating for a restriction on the use of creative and artistic expression, as evidence in criminal trials. Abb-d speaks to Driftime’s involvement in creating a creative strategy and brand for Art Not Evidence that has the ability to reach and resonate with complex audiences, from figureheads in the justice system right through to the affected communities.

Design Declares debut their new look
Time for a makeover! Driftime designed a subtle evolution of the existing Design Declares brand to reach a versatile audience quickly spanning the globe.
From updating the typography to support multiple languages, to introducing a new “emergency red” brand colour, we worked hard to develop a design approach that uses a simple typeface in alternative ways using size, layout and hierarchy to resonate with our international community of designers.
We spent time thinking about the site structure, exploring how we could improve the UX of the site by spreading the content more evenly across multiple pages. By championing each chapter with their own version of the site, we designed pages that effectively communicate the importance of each chapter as more than just their translations, with a unique “Latest” page that displays articles from all of the global chapters, making it easier for anyone from the UK to read about what's happening in D! Ireland, Brazil, or any other global chapter.

In the pursuit of subtle commerce
From editorial magazine to digital marketplace, Driftime worked with Journey of Objects to craft a platform that champions “subtle commerce”, a process that sets the scene for how to buy new things only when it will enhance our lives, the planet, and the person we’re purchasing from.
We’re all familiar with the notion of e-commerce as an industry – an often endless cycle of spending money mindlessly to satiate our need for fast-paced and convenient consumption. Be it a Bezos empire or a small-scale start up, online shopping is built on the shaky foundations of profit-led capitalism, and leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to meaningful, ethical, and planet-friendly purchasing. We believe there’s a way to cut through the noise, to alleviate the damage where possible, and to create a space that empowers sellers, informs browsers, and cares for the future of our world.
